"Person, First" is a month-long storytelling workshop for voices outside of the dominant narratives. Facilitated by Storyteller and Artist, Sheldon Scott, the workshop is designed with a focus on empowering historically marginalized narratives through empathy building and moving beyond “single narrative” tropes.
Using humanity as the spine of the narrative arch, the workshop will afford participants the opportunity to share what not only connects our stories to a broader human discourse, but what also makes our stories incredibly unique, powerful and necessary to be told.
The instruction lends itself to storytelling for performance, professional or personal goals and what narrative you want the world to know as yours.
The series will culminate in a a showcase opportunity on the 5th Thursday in the series - August 3 @ 7pm. The event will be open to the public, and tickets will be available in advance + at the door. *While highly encouraged, this is an optional opportuinty, and is NOT a requirement in order to participate in the workshop.
