ReCreative Spaces brings new purpose to underused and vacant places.
We seek to build community through arts-centric programming.

In 2013, ReCreative Spaces originated as an initiative to transform vacant commercial properties into short-term hubs of creativity. We formed a pARTnership with The Menkiti Group, who provided the space.

Our first place, located on Bunker Hill Road in NE DC, was a three month project that focused on art gallery, class, and meeting space. Our next location, a few blocks away on Rhode Island Avenue NE, housed gallery + exhibition space, and also focused on community arts events and rehearsal space.

In November of 2015, ReCreative Spaces opened its first long-term location in Mount Rainier, MD - in the heART of the Gateway Arts District.

We continue to work in partnership with developers and business owners to make spaces that are inviting, filled with creativity, and that are accessible to artists and those interested in art.
